OVERVIEW

A web app I built for myself: a place to structure how I learn to *do* research. It turns a scattered self-study path through AI — papers, courses, notes, open questions — into something organised enough to actually move me toward becoming a researcher.

BUILD

Built for an audience of one.

Research Academy started as a personal tool. Teaching yourself to do research — not just read it — is mostly a problem of structure: what to read next, which threads are still open, what you actually understood versus what you only highlighted. I wanted one place that held all of it.

What it does.

The app organises my self-directed learning in AI into tracks and milestones, keeps the reading list and notes next to the open questions they raise, and turns a vague 'get better at research' goal into something with a visible shape and a next step. It is deliberately simple — the point was to use it daily, not to admire the feature list.

Why it is here.

It is the most honest project in this list, because the user and the builder are the same person. It is also where the research ambition stopped being abstract: building the scaffold was part of deciding that research is the direction I want to take.

REFLECTION

The harness teaches you what the model is doing. Build it first; the rest is implementation.
